Gallery: The Vana Tallinn Gala filled the national opera house with opera hits and glamour

The 117th season of the Estonian National Opera opened on 28 August with the festive Vana Tallinn Gala. Held already for the tenth time, the opera gala is the longest continuously held classical music concert in Estonia. At the festive gala evening, the Estonian National Opera and Liviko signed a sponsorship agreement covering the next five years.

“The National Opera is very grateful to the sponsors and partners with whom we’ve had a lengthy collaboration. One such sponsor is undoubtedly Liviko. It is thanks to their help and support that we are able to realise something truly beautiful, spectacular and sublime together, such as the annual Vana Tallinn Gala, which attracts an exceptionally large audience,” said Ott Maaten, Director of the Estonian National Opera.

The exclusive concert evening featured soloists Olga Mykytenko, a Ukrainian soprano who has won international singing competitions and shone on opera stages around the world, tenor Raimonds Bramanis, a soloist with the Latvian National Opera, and the much-acclaimed and much-loved bass Ain Anger. The music was performed by the orchestra and choir of the Estonian National Opera, conducted by Arvo Volmer.

At the gala evening, a five-year cooperation agreement between Liviko AS and the Estonian National Opera was signed by Enn Kunila, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Liviko AS, and Ott Maaten, Director of the Estonian National Opera.

“Liviko has been a major sponsor of the Estonian National Opera for more than a decade and we are delighted to continue to support high quality music and theatre experiences. Supporting culture is a tangible way to contribute to a more beautiful, creative and liveable society. The Vana Tallinn Gala is an excellent example of successful cooperation, and the gala concert, which was jointly initiated in 2013, has become a highly anticipated event to open the opera season among music lovers,” said Enn Kunila, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Liviko AS.

The Vana Tallinn Gala was first held as a collaboration between the Estonian National Opera and Liviko in 2013. The Vana Tallinn Gala is the longest continuously held classical music concert in Estonia. In addition to its sponsorship of opera, Liviko contributes to the promotion of Estonian culture by supporting the Estonian Artists’ Association, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and a number of other cultural events.
