Vana Tallinn liqueur with its distinctive flavour is one of the most famous Estonian brands. The smooth but spicy flavour of Vana Tallinn liqueur is derived from rich Jamaican rum, carefully selected aromatic spices and exotic citrus fruit. Only natural ingredients are used to make Vana Tallinn.
Vana Tallinn is one of Estonia’s hallmark products, manufactured continuously at Liviko since 1960. The exact recipe of the world’s most popular Estonian liqueur is a closely guarded secret.
The recipe for Vana Tallinn was invented in 1960 by the bottling manager Bernhard Jurno, the distillery specialist Jaan Siimo and the master distiller Ilse Maar. The Vana Tallinn (Alc 45% vol) they created was the only drink in the Vana Tallinn product family until 1990. In 1990 The 45% product was replaced with a 40% product for export. In 1999 Vana Tallinn goes through a renewal, the bottle is made more slender, and the roof tile motif in its upper part is made deeper. 45% returned to the family and 50% were added
The tower-shaped bottle of the classic Vana Tallinn was inspired by the Old Town of Tallinn, depicting the towers of the UNESCO World Heritage listed medieval city wall.
Strong Jamaican rum plays a key role in the distinctive flavour of Vana Tallinn, in addition to exotic oranges and lemons, and aromatic spices chosen with the utmost care. Vana Tallinn liqueur is made only from natural ingredients, and its exotic velvety flavour is truly exceptional. The slightly spicy flavour and pleasant aroma of Vana Tallinn liqueur carry notes of vanilla pod, citrus fruit, caramelised sugar, toffee and warming spices. The drink gets its intriguingly bitter notes and exotic aroma from cinnamon bark. The majority of the thorough and labour-intensive process of making this liqueur is completed by hand. It takes about a month to manufacture this drink.
Vana Tallinn liqueur is available in 40%, 45% and 50% vol. The Vana Tallinn product range also includes the Vana Tallinn Cream liqueurs, Vana Tallinn Glögi, the liqueurs Vana Tallinn Wild Spices, Vana Tallinn Coffee Fusion, Vana Tallinn Heritage Edition, Vana Tallinn Elegance and Vana Tallinn Signature. The newest products in the product family are Vana Tallinn Toffee Caramel and coffee-flavored Vana Tallinn Coffee Espresso.
Vana Tallinn is best served on ice, with a couple of lemon slices in a low tumbler. Vana Tallinn liqueur is a popular and widespread ingredient in cocktails as well as culinary arts.
