The Estonian bartender achieved second place at Bacardi cocktail competition
At the Baltic final of Bacardi Superior Rum – Legacy Cocktail Competition 2011, held on Wednesday, 2 November, in Riga Valentina Kostikova from Estonia achieved second place with the cocktail “Memories“. The best bartenders from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania attended the competition.
The cocktail “Memories“ of Valentina Kostikova working in Olympic Casino was inspired by autumn and contained, inter alia, cranberries and thyme.
“Valentina was bold and self-confident at the competitions and her technique was very professional. In the tough and even competition Valentina won the second place,“ Liivi Tadolder, marketing director of AS Liviko, importer of Bacardi, having observed the competition at site, said.
The criterion of the cocktail competition was that the principal part of the drinks should consist of Bacardi Superior rum and the cocktail should be simple and easy to prepare.
The six best in each Baltic country were ascertained who reached the final held in Riga. The task of the participants at the final was to prepare own cocktail, introduce it and represent the plan for advertising the cocktail.
The Baltic best cocktail champion was chosen by international jury with the following members – David Cordoba, Bacardi global representative from Great Britain, Tarmo Kiudorv, president of the Estonian Bartenders Association, Andris Noreikis from Latvia and Aurelijus Marudinas from Lithuania.
The cocktail competition was won by Raitis Akerblums from Latvia, second place by Valentina Kostikova from Estonia and the third place by Normunds Laiko from Latvia.
The winner, Latvian Raitis Akerblums, represents the Baltic countries at the international final of Bacardi Superior Rum Legacy Cocktail Competition in Puerto Rico next year.
