Mihkel Poll, the student of Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, received the scholarship of Liviko

Mihkel Poll, the pianist studying in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in the piano class of professor Ivari Ilja, received Liviko’s scholarship of 100,000 kroons. Mihkel Poll (1986) was chosen due to his outstanding international achievements in 2006.

Poll is the prize winner of Tallinn International Competition of Pianists 2006 and Ferrol International Competition of Pianists 2006 (Spain). In 2004 he was the winner at the well-known pianist competition by the name of Rina Sala Gallo in Monza (Italy), by acquiring also the special prize of the orchestra. In the same year Poll also won the main prize and 4 special prizes at the national competition of interpreters “Con brio”.

Liviko’s scholarship is so far the greatest in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre which has been granted to one student. According to Janek Kalvi, chairman of the management board of AS Liviko, Liviko is the company with long-term traditions in fast development phase, striving to the foreign markets. “Therefore we are pleased to have an opportunity to support a young, talented and hard-working musician who continues the path of the school of Estonian pianists to the international arena,” Kalvi said.

The festive hand-over of Liviko’s scholarship and opening of sponsor board were held on Monday, 16 April at 13.00 in the chamber hall of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (Rävala pst 16, IV floor).

The cooperation between AS Liviko and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre has already lasted for years. Also, AS Liviko is the key sponsor of the concert series Jazz in Academy organised by the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
